Some Hawthorne residents who have not had power for a week were trapped in their community by a fallen tree.
The tree fell on Rutledge Avenue, bringing down power lines with it.
Residents say that Con Edison treated the line as a live wire, which prevented the town from chopping the tree up and getting it out of the way.
By Thursday afternoon, someone had stopped by with a chainsaw and got rid of the tree. Residents say that even better news would be to get power back in their homes.
Noemi Cugler and her husband say they are upset because they have been racking up bills by staying at hotels for the past few days.
