Dog grooming business go up in flames
A home that housed a dog grooming business went up in flames in Carmel early Tuesday.
Fire officials say the flames broke out at the Guchi Dog Grooming and Supplies shop at 114 Gleneida Ave. around 1 a.m.
The owner, who also lived in the building, says all the residents were able to escape safely, and that there were no dogs in the business at the time of the fire.
Firefighters from Carmel, Lake Carmel and Mahopac battled the flames and freezing temperatures for hours before getting the fire under control. They say the building was destroyed and will have to be torn down.
