A doctor from Belmar has been charged in the death of a pedestrian in Brielle.
The incident happened Tuesday around 12:40 a.m. while the pedestrian was crossing Route 71 North at Bradley Avenue.
Dr. James S. McCaugh, 57, of Manasquan, was charged with causing a death while driving on a suspended license, along with two motor vehicle violations.
The name of the victim, described only as an adult male, has not yet been released.
According to police, he died at the scene.
