The prosecution called a DNA expert to testify Wednesday in the trial of the man accused of murdering a woman in the Galleria Mall parking garage.
Phillip Grant is on trial for the stabbing death of Connie Russo Carreiro last June. DNA expert Linda Duffy said she found the victim?s blood on Grant?s palm. Duffy also told the jury that Carriero?s DNA was found on Grant?s pants. The defense plans to call its own expert to dispute Duffy?s testimony.
Although Grant confessed to police that he killed Carriero because she was white, his attorney says it is a case of mistaken identity. Grant, a convicted sex offender, is charged with murder as a hate crime.
