One of the final health services to come 'off pause' because of the pandemic can now resume work as dentist offices can reopen today.
This weekend, Gov. Andrew Cuomo gave the greenlight for all dentist offices statewide to reopen today.
But the reopening comes with some strict new guidelines.
At Riverside Dental in Yonkers, patients will see the new safety protocols in place before they set foot in the office.
Patients will have to wait curbside in their cars, until it's time for their appointment.
Once inside, even more safety measures are in place. All doctors and staff will be wearing personal protective gear such as masks and gloves.
The reception window now has Plexiglas, and all magazines and toys for the kids have been removed.
All furniture is also socially distanced.
There will be no paperwork to fill out because everything will be done ahead of time online.
The dentists at Riverside Dental say they were surprised the governor’s reopening announcement over the weekend because they weren’t expecting it for at least another week. But they say patients have been calling already and are eager to come in for their procedures.
