A demonstration was held Wednesday in support of a family who says they've been targeted by the town because they put up a Black Lives Matter sign on their lawn.
The protesters at Eastchester Town Hall have pushed town officials to revaluate the sign ordinance.
Avisia and Dan Brown had a banner hanging in front of their home that featured a quote from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
They were told the banners are a fire hazard and are not allowed in the town.
However, they believed it's the message and not the hanging of a banner that the town had an issue with, saying plenty of homeowners have banners hung in front of their homes and weren't issued the same warning.
The Town of Eastchester released a statement saying any violations on residential properties will be suspended until the code is adopted.
