Decorated NYPD sergeant from Rockland County dies of 9/11-related illness

A decorated NYPD sergeant who lived in Rockland County died earlier this week of a 9/11-related illness.
Sgt. William Brautigam joined the department just two months before the terror attacks in downtown Manhattan.
During his career, he made nearly 700 arrests and was honored numerous times.
Brautigam, who was born in Nanuet and lived in Stony Point, is survived by his wife and two sons. He was 47 years old.
