A construction project in the fast-growing community of South Blooming Grove appears to be on hold after the state found the project violates state law.  

The Department of Environmental Conservation issued four stop work orders for alleged failure to secure the required state permit, most recently in September, at 505 Clove Road.  

The DEC says state approval is required because the project disturbs more than an acre of land and threatens water quality standards.  

News 12 obtained a copy of the violation letter to the owners threatening fines of $37,500 per day in September while work was allegedly continuing.  

It’s not clear if the project has local approval or if the village was aware that the project required state approval.  

News 12 reached out to officials for information but didn’t hear back and has been unable to reach the property owners listed on the violation notice as Keen Equities LLC and Simon Gelb.
