Police in Mount Kisco are investigating after a newborn?s body was discovered at a village dump.
Police say the baby girl was found with the placenta and umbilical cord still attached near a pile of storm drain sediment collected by one of the village's powerful vacuum trucks Wednesday. Authorities believe she was stuffed in a sewer and her body was extracted from a catch basin cleaned by the highway department.
Detectives say the baby was partially enclosed in a plastic bag and looked to be full-term. An autopsy is being performed to find out if the infant was stillborn. Police are canvassing the neighborhood where the vacuum truck was and are searching for the mother. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mount Kisco detectives at (914) 666-3855.
