An alleged domestic dispute and subsequent fire in Yonkers left one person dead and another critically injured Monday morning.
A criminal investigation is underway.
Fire officials they received a call about a fire around 3:45 a.m. on 144 Waverly St. near Park Hill Avenue.
Yonkers police investigators tell News 12 that the fire looks to be intentional and may involve a domestic dispute. Victorino Martinez, 75, has died. His 50-year-old wife is in critical condition.
"There was an accelerant found at the scene, so it does obviously raise suspicions that this was not an accident," says Yonkers Deputy Chief Joseph Monaco.
There were five other family members plus a guest in the house at the time of the fire. Three suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening.
