A Hudson Valley day care is reopening its doors after a COVID-19 outbreak.
Pattycake Playhouse Early Childhood Center in Newburgh was one of two daycares in Orange County that had outbreaks late last month.
The owners say two children and two parents tested positive, causing them to close the center for cleaning until Wednesday.
They are now taking new precautions, adding a vestibule for screening and upgrading their sanitation equipment.
The owners say keeping parents informed is the most important aspect. "Weekly, we're sending out detailed reports about what's going on, how we're improving things, what we're putting funding toward and I think when schools start to open up that's the thing – it's important to be transparent," says Michele Pagano, of Pattycake Playhouse.
Orange County officials say a total of 11 people tested positive in both day care outbreaks last month.
News 12 has been told all of the cases were mild and some were asymptomatic.
