Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the county has achieved great success with the addition of the free school bus cameras program.
In a Facebook post, Day noted 111 drivers got hit with a $250 ticket in just a six-week period for passing stopped school buses. Both South Orangetown and East Ramapo;s school districts, who did not yet opt into this cost-free program, have indicated that they are close to signing up as the school year approaches.
South Orangetown and East Ramapo plan to give Rockland County 100% participation in the program.
