The illegal immigrant found guilty of raping and murdering a New City mother will now spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Ronald Douglas Herrera-Castellanos was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for raping, stabbing and strangling Mary Nagle to death while doing work at her home last April. Herrera's defense claimed he didn't remember killing Nagle because he was drinking alcohol and using cocaine the night before. But the prosecution pointed to Herrera's actions after the murder and his lack of remorse.

In the end, a jury took less than four hours to convict him.
