ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A Siena College poll finds New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's favorability rating is up after the Democrat vowed to challenge the federal income tax overhaul that's expected to hurt the state.
Sixty-two percent of likely voters surveyed said they viewed Cuomo favorably, compared to 30 percent who said they didn't. The poll was released Tuesday, hours before Cuomo releases his state budget proposal.
A Siena poll in November put Cuomo's favorability rating at 52 percent.
The telephone poll of 824 New York registered voters has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. It was conducted Jan. 7-11, shortly after Cuomo used his state of the state address to take on Trump administration policies, including the Republican-led tax overhaul.
Cuomo is considered a potential 2020 presidential contender.
