Some much-needed funding is set to be given to programs that work to prevent gun violence in New York.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced more than $3.1 million to continue funding seven nonprofits across the state, including the SNUG outreach program that aims to curb violence.
Mount Vernon’s SNUG program will receive more than $290,000.
SNUG programs in Poughkeepsie are slated to receive more than $305,000 and Yonkers will get roughly $356,000.
Program manager Keith Guinyard, who works at the Yonkers SNUG office at the YMCA on Riverdale Avenue, says the money will help fund training programs for at-risk youth.
