A fire broke out overnight at a controversial plastics facility in Orangeburg.
Officials say the fire broke out in a filtration system on the side of the ALUF Plastics building just before 3 a.m.

Six departments were called in to extinguish the blaze. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
The building was evacuated and remains closed.

The Department of Environmental Conservation has been called in to investigate potentially contaminated water runoff from the fire hoses into nearby storm drains.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
