A new Courtyard Marriott is officially open for business in Yonkers.
Less than two years after breaking ground, the grand opening was held Wednesday afternoon at the new Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Yonkers.
The new 154-room hotel boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center and pool. The Courtyard Marriott is the latest in a series of hotels and other businesses that have sprung up over the last eight years in the section of Yonkers called the South Westchester Executive Park, or SWEP.
Back in 2009, a Residence Inn opened just across the driveway from where the new Marriott now sits. That same year, a Hampton Inn and Suites opened for business just up the street at 160 Corporate Blvd.
The Boyce Thompson Center was also renovated. The multi-use complex with medical offices and restaurants is set to open next week after years of construction.

"There is just an enormous need for hotel space because Manhattan is so overbuilt at this point and very expensive,” says Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano
