? The court date for the Cortlandt man accused of murdering his missing wife was postponed Monday.
Werner Lippe?s attorney says since this is a murder case, not much can be accomplished in Town Court. He says the case will have to go to County Court, which is why Monday?s proceedings were postponed.
Officials tell News 12 Westchester that they believe Lippe, 67, killed his wife, Faith, on Oct. 3 after an argument. Lippe allegedly put his wife in a barrel in the backyard of their home and then cremated her.
Lippe has said that he last saw his wife the night she disappeared driving away in a dark SUV. He admits they were in the midst of a divorce, but said they were trying to reconcile.
Lippe, who has not yet entered a plea, is being held at the county jail without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 8. However, Lippe?s attorney says the case will probably go to the grand jury by then and that the appearance will be canceled.
