Two men broke into a home and pistol-whipped a couple Wednesday during the second home invasion to take place in Greenburgh in less than a week.
Police say the men, one of whom had a handgun, broke into the North Hampton Drive home before midnight. The duo demanded money from the couple and beat them with the pistol before fleeing.
The victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.During the other home invasion incident, three men broke into an Old Tarrytown Road home Saturday, tied up an elderly couple and made off with $10,000 in cash and jewelry.Authorities don't believe the incidents are related, since the descriptions of the suspects don't match. However, investigators say the crimes likely weren't random.
"There's usually a reason," says Greenburgh Police Department Chief John Kapica. "These people are usually targeted for one reason or another."
Investigators are working to determine whether anything was taken in the North Hampton Drive home invasion.
