Couple finds woman's body in Ardsley lake
A couple feeding the ducks at an Ardsley lake Sunday found a body, sparking an intense investigation.
Police say the couple, residents of Mercy park, called 911 after finding the woman's body floating in Woodlands Lake in V.E. Macy Park around 11 a.m. Westchester County police barricaded the entrance. The body remained in the icy water until a medical examiner arrived after 3 p.m.
Authorities were tight-lipped about the case, but said it's possible that the woman may have slipped while trying to feed ducks. They also said that while they don?t think it?s likely, that have not ruled out homicide or suicide.
Investigators said they did not find any evidence of physical trauma. The victim, who is believed to be from the area, has not been identified. Authorities say an abandoned vehicle, removed from park grounds by police, is being used to assist the identification efforts.
The two witnesses who found the body were interviewed by county police. No arrests were made.
The victim?s identity is expected to be confirmed on Monday.
