A Westchester County judge agreed Friday to lower the bail for a Mamaroneck teacher accused of rape and child endangerment.
Omar Rodriguez, 27, who worked for the Hommocks Middle School as a music teacher, was arrested last week after being accused of inappropriately touching six girls at the school. He was later accused of statutory rape involving a 16-year-old choir member in Connecticut, where Rodriguez was the minister of music.
After failing to get his bail lowered at Thursday?s hearing in the Village of Mamaroneck, Rodriguez?s attorney pleaded his case in front of County Court. The judge there lowered the bail from $150,000 or $1 million bond to $100,000 cash or bond. The attorney says the bail is now more reasonable for a class E felony.
Meanwhile, the DA?s office revealed that two more girls have come forward and charges are pending in Mamaroneck.
