Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino delivered his eighth State of the County address Thursday evening.
Astorino announced that he will not raise taxes for county residents for the eighth consecutive year.
He also discussed why he wants Westchester County to sue the state over Gov. Andrew Cuomo's plan to close Indian Point, the nuclear power plant in Buchanan.
Other topics on the agenda included the ongoing efforts to bring in Standard Amusements to manage Rye Playland, as well as the $1.2 billion plan to bring a biotech center to Valhalla.
Astorino and county legislators are also in talks to privatize the Westchester County Airport, which is expected to bring in $140 million in revenue. The county executive discussed those efforts.
The county executive also outlined what he sees as progress in the federal affordable housing settlement.
New topics of discussion this year was the drugs. Astorino spoke about Project WORTHY, the Westchester Opioids Response Teams Helping Youth. It's a coalition of health, law enforcement and school officials who are preparing to team up to battle heroin and opioid abuse.
