Westchester County Executive George Latimer called on bipartisanship among business leaders Thursday as he touted the county's history of economic resourcefulness in a meeting.
"This county, in the years of the Depression, still built the first planned amusement park in America at Playland," he said to cheers at the annual Westchester County Association Breakfast at the Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown.
He called for bipartisanship in approaching the county's business challenges, following changes to the federal tax code and proposed cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
"We have to work across the aisle out of necessity, or we will not succeed in this county, facing the problems that we face," he said.
William Mooney, president of the Westchester County Association, echoed Latimer's call for forging a new path forward.
"We can no longer do business the way we do business," he said.
