County exec backs Elmsford assemblyman for attorney general
Assemblyman Richard Brodsky (D-Elmsford) formally threw his hat in the ring for state attorney general Wednesday.
Brodsky also won a key endorsement from Westchester County Executive Andy Spano in his bid to replace Eliot Spitzer. Brodsky had some sharp criticism for Republican candidate Jeanine Pirro and two fellow Democrats Andrew Cuomo and Mark Green, who are also seeking the attorney general seat. Brodsky considers them political opportunists who have high name recognition due mostly to failed campaigns.
Brodsky says he's known statewide for the work he's done against the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant and local development corporations, such as the one Yonkers set up for the $600 million Ridge Hill development. And while Spano and Brodsky have clashed over the years, Spano downplayed any past rivalry in his support for Brodsky.
