County: Accused cop's DNA not on dead immigrant
Prosecutors said in court Wednesday that a Mount Kisco police officer?s DNA was not found on the man he is accused of killing.
According to prosecutors, there is no DNA from Officer George Bubaris on Rene Perez?s body or clothing.
Perez, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was found dying along Byram Lake Road in Bedford last April. Bubaris is charged with manslaughter in Perez?s death. An autopsy showed Perez had injuries to his abdomen, but it is not clear who inflicted those injuries. Bubaris? defense attorney, Edward Hayes, believes more scientific evidence should point to another suspect.
?You can show that somebody else touched him,? Hayes said.
Hayes also blasted the district attorney?s office in court Wednesday for not turning over internal memos from the Mount Kisco Police Department to him. Prosecutors argued against Hayes? insinuations that they were withholding information.
