A Coram family was trapped in their home Thursday without power following a storm that took down trees and power lines across Long Island.

Caroline Giovanniello lives on a dead end at the intersection of Planters Lane and Puals Path. There are about a dozen homes along the stretch of road. After the storm, power lines came down and there was a big tree blocking the road, leaving people trapped.

"There was sparking wires, there's poles that are down, there's trees that are down and it's a dead end so there is no access, no other access," says Giovanniello.

News 12 had to speak with Giovanniello over the phone because she couldn't get down the road. Her husband had to miss work, her kids missed school and one of them missed a critical doctor's appointment.

Giovanniello says she reached out to PSEG multiple times to find out when the power would be restored and when they could get out of their home, but says she was told they would have to wait.

"I feel like they could have come and at least moved the tree, so that we could get in and out," says Giovanniello.

PSEG eventually made it to the area and residents are just hoping that they can get out of their homes Friday. PSEG says it's working to restore power to everyone affected by the storm.
