Coquito Masters contest held in the Bronx
Hundreds of contestants were in the Bronx Wednesday to compete in the 15th annual Coquito Masters tournament.
Participants bring their best batches of coquitos to be judged in a blind taste test. A coquito is a traditional Puerto Rican drink made from condensed milk, vanilla, coconut and rum.
Debbie Quinones started the competition in 2001 at her own home in the Bronx. The event grew so large that it went from a few people at her house to about 200 competitors.
After the blind taste test, two finalists from each borough are chosen. The 10 finalists then compete in the finals.
