Cops: Woman tried to run down officer over ticket
A woman who was getting a parking ticket at the Westchester County Airport Friday was arrested after police say she tried to run over the officer.
Police say veteran Officer Wayne Mullaney was in the process of writing a ticket when the Weronika Karwowska came back out of the terminal. The officer asked Karwowska, of New Jersey, if she had been drinking and police say she had words with the cop. Police say Karwowska jumped in her car and drove off, narrowly missing Officer Mullaney, who jumped out of the way.
Police say Karwowska crashed her car just over the Connecticut border and returned to the airport by cab to continue an argument she had with her boyfriend, who was leaving on a plane. Officers spotted Karwowska and she was arrested.
Karwowska was charged with attempted assault on a police officer with deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, driving while intoxicated and speeding. She was remanded to Westchester County Jail and held on $5,000 bail.
