Cops hunt suspects in two Spring Valley stabbings
Police are investigating two stabbing attacks in Spring Valley that police say the victims were scared to report themselves.
Authorities say a man was stabbed around 10 p.m. Saturday on North Main Street next to two churches. The victim was stabbed eight times in his neck, chest and legs. Another man was stabbed in his back near El Palermo Bar on South Main Street around 4 a.m. Sunday. Police say both men took themselves to Good Samaritan Hospital without reporting the crimes.
Police believe the victims were scared because of their immigration status. "Basically, it doesn't matter if you're illegal or not. We're [going to] help you the best we can, and if you don't call us right away, the time delay is a tremendous hindrance to our efforts," Officer Jorge Marciano said about the crimes.
Authorities say hospital staff called 911. No arrests have been made and the victims are expected to survive.
