A Yonkers boy was in protective custody Thursday and his mother and her boyfriend charged with child endangerment.
Police say a tip led them to 25 Marion Ave. in Yonkers where the door was unlocked and conditions were deplorable. Authorities say they found Theresa Russell, 32, unconscious on the floor and her 52-year-old boyfriend Dennis Daily half naked and semi-conscious on the couch. An empty bottle of alcohol and an open bottle of pills were next to him, according to police. Russell?s 4-year-old son was allegedly unsupervised in a dirty diaper among dirty dishes, rotten food and soiled carpets.
Police took the couple to the hospital and later charged them with child endangerment. The boy was taken to child protective services and is reportedly unharmed. Daily claims the boy was not unsupervised. Russell and Daily are scheduled to appear in court June 21.
