Cops arrest second suspect in popular Yonkers doctor's murder
More than a month after a popular Yonkers pediatrician was shot to death in his home, police arrested a second suspect in the murder Friday.
Twenty-nine-year-old Bronx resident Juan Bernardez will be arraigned on murder charges Saturday in the killing of Dr. Leandro Lozada. Lozada was found shot at least twice in his Brendan Hill Road house on January 3. Police did not describe Bernardez's connection to the case. A close friend of Bernardez says it's hard to believe he was involved in such a crime, but Yonkers police maintain they have the right men.
On January 6, police arrested Samuel Saunders, 59. Investigators say Saunders sold Lozada his house seven months before and allegedly shot him over a financial dispute.
