The condition of the NYPD officer from White Plains shot by friendly fire has worsened.
A St. Barnabas Hospital spokesperson said that scans done on 24-year-old Officer Eric Hernandez Tuesday show no brain activity. Hernandez remains in extremely critical condition and on life support at the Bronx hospital. More tests are expected, however, Hernandez?s family is said to be preparing for the worst.
Police say six men attacked Hernandez at a White Castle in the Bronx on January 28. Following the attack, Hernandez made his way to the parking lot where he drew his weapon and pointed it at a man he thought was one of his attackers. Police asked Hernandez to drop his weapon and when he didn?t comply, he was shot three times by Officer Alfredo Toro, of Washingtonville. The six suspects in the attack have all been formally charged with gang assault.
