The union representing 9,000 Con Edison workers is back at the bargaining table with the utility giant Tuesday in the face of a midnight deadline.
Negotiations between the Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2, Con Ed and a state labor mediator are taking place in lower Manhattan. The talks come after Gov. David Paterson persuaded both sides to a cooling off period Saturday.
The union has set a new strike deadline for Tuesday at midnight unless an agreement is reached on wages and benefits.If the steam, gas and electric workers decide to walk off the job, picket lines would go up at three Westchester Con Ed locations. One location includes the Rye Brook headquarters.
