Residents of Chappaqua are abuzz over reports that Sen. Hillary Clinton is being considered for secretary of state.
Both Clinton, President-elect Barack Obama's fiercest rival for the presidential nomination, and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who also ran for the White House this year, interviewed with Obama in Chicago last week for the post, according to Democratic officials.
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), the Senate's second-ranking Republican, says he thinks Clinton would be right for the job.
"It seems to me she's got the experience. She's got the temperament for it. I think she would be well received around the world," said Kyl. "So my own initial reaction is it would be a very good selection."
Michael Fenlon, who like Clinton lives in Chappaqua, agrees that she would be a great choice.
"She has the experience, the judgment," he says. "I think she brings the stature to interact with other heads of states and the wisdom in terms of the profound challenges we face today in the world."
