The Town of Clarkstown announced it is suing a property management group to address the illegal housing antics that have taken place in the area.
Officials are taking legal action against Monsey’s First Choice Spring Valley Property Management, including some homes they are responsible for and other homes they have not yet inspected. First Choice Spring Valley Property Management also is the owner of a property on New Hempstead Road where about 30 migrants were living as of last month.
A case to shut down a home on West Clarkstown Road in New City that allegedly has illegal conversions and safety issues has also been filed, according to officials.
"The safety and security of our residents and our first responders is paramount to me,” said Town of Clarkstown Town Supervisor George Hoehmann. “We continue to urge local residents to call. If you see something, say something. Stop in. Send tips. You can go on our 311 tipline."
"So we have to make sure we can get all the help we can get to make sure we stop this cold immediately," added Rockland County Executive Ed day.
Clarkstown officials also uncovered First Choice Spring Valley Property Management oversees 339 properties in Rockland, with 37 within the town and more than a dozen of those buildings believed to have violations.
