Church seeks donations to buy bigger space
The Iglesia Pentecostal El Santuario is asking for the public's help so that they can better serve their community.
The church has been in the Belmont community for 18 years, 10 of which were spent in a larger building. Rev. Yudelka Silva says that they had a soup kitchen where they gave out a week's worth of food every Monday to 200 families.
They also had after school classes for kids in the neighborhood.
Their lease, however, was not renewed and they are now in a much smaller space at 4478 Park Ave. Silva says they currently have no room for any of the programs they once implemented.
They want to change that and buy a permanent larger space. People have pitched in $10,000 so far, but the church needs $100,000 total.
