Church donations stolen over Christmas
Thousands of dollars in donations were stolen from a Tarrytown church over Christmas.
The pastor at the Church of the Magdalene says he found the office door lock broken and the parish office safe with all the member donations from Christmas gone. Detectives say nearly $20,000 was taken from inside the church rectory.
The pastor says most of this year's donations were checks, and members were immediately notified of the burglary by an email alert. Detectives are trying to determine how many people are involved in the burglary.
Police urge anyone who may have seen something suspicious outside the church to come forward.
