Search and rescue divers were called to a pond in Orange County Friday over a report that a child may have fallen through the ice.
Officials say it happened in the town of Woodbury, at Vanderbilt and University drives.
State police and fire department teams from both Orange and Rockland counties were called to the scene.
Police say that a father reported his child missing. They say pieces of the child's clothes were found near the pond where there were holes in the ice.
Authorities say after searching for more than three hours, the child was found on land safe and the search was called off.
State police say it’s unclear if the report was a hoax and that there’s no actual report of a child missing in the area.
