Chappaqua S.D. warns parents about suspicious incident
New Castle police and Chappaqua School District officials are on heightened alert since an 11-year old boy reported being approached by a man who may have been trying to lure him into his car.
According to police, the boy was walking home from school Friday and was approached by a man at the intersection of Hamilton and Mill River Road. The man offered the boy a ride and then some candy. The boy refused the offers and walked away. When he got home he told his parents, who called police.
Police say there have been several similar suspicious incidents around Westchester recently. On January 20, there were two separate cases in Harrison. Greenburgh police are also investigating another that occurred on January 30. Chappaqua's school superintendent is advising parents not to panic, but says children do have to be told about the danger.
