A judge sentenced Justin Grodin to life in prison Friday despite the jury wanting him to be executed.
Grodin, 35, was arrested and convicted of killing his 11-month old stepdaughter Gretchen nine years ago. He will now serve a lifetime behind bars without parole.
The judge says certain factors in the case did not require the death penalty.
