People in Hudson Valley and all over the world Wednesday observed Yom HaShoah, an annual day to commemorate those killed in the Holocaust.

Organizers held a ceremony in New City to remind people that Americans pledge their support to a body of laws and not a single leader like Hitler or the one party like the Nazis.

Dr. Alexander Levy, of the Holocaust Museum and Center for Tolerance, says there's practically no Jew in the world who didn't lose somebody in the Holocaust. Levy is a Holocaust survivor and shared his story at the ceremony.

Yom HaShoah lasts until sundown Thursday.
