A ceremony in Haverstraw Monday honored the 80 victims from Rockland County who died in the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
Victoria Alonso, of Stony Point, was only a toddler when her mother died in the attacks. Janet Alonso worked on the 91st floor of the north tower and never made it out.
Now, the 18-year-old college student wears pins to keep the memory of her mother alive. She and her family were among the hundreds who attended the 9/11 remembrance ceremony at Haverstraw Bay Park.
Names of the victims were read aloud by family members, and moments of silence were held at the times the towers collapsed.
A steel beam from the north tower was featured at the center of the ceremony.
