Bronx Catholic school teachers, who went on strike last week over contract disagreements with the Archdiocese of New York, were back in the classrooms Monday.
Negotiations between the Lay Faculty Association, the teacher?s union representing more than 450 teachers, and the archdiocese are still under way. The union is now waiting to see if its proposals have been accepted.
At a meeting late last week the two groups, with the help of a mediator, decided teachers would return to school until an agreement was made.
Thousands of students at Cardinal Spellman and Cardinal Hayes high schools say the strike has taken away time from Regents exam preparation.
