Volunteers at a Newburgh church are getting hands-on to help students in need.
The group is constructing 30 desks for ‘Horizon of the Hudson’ students to use while learning from home.
The volunteers believe their items should be of great use for those students who’ve never had a desk. Their hope is having the structure will improve the student’s virtual learning and homework.
“It gives them something to own and to love,” says volunteer Jim Ferguson. "A private study space and I’m looking forward to seeing them decorated.”
News 12 is told the volunteers plan to continue building all week.
Students will be able to pick up the desks with a trusted adult on Saturday.
