Bronx immigrants attending the Day of Citizenship at Lehman College Saturday were able to get help and advice from attorneys and volunteers. Some Bronx residents say it can be difficult to fill out the applications alone. Having someone to help and walk them through it made the process much easier, they say. Other residents say they already mailed in their applications, but wanted to use the opportunity to speak to attorneys to make sure they did everything correctly. Some claim they never thought about becoming a citizen until the immigration issue heated up in Congress. The event at Lehman College was free. Organizers say they plan to hold another Day of Citizenship in October.
