Heavily traveled Route 119 reopened Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer slammed into a utility pole, cutting power to hundreds.
The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Monday. Officials say the tractor-trailer hit the pole while coming off the New York State Thruway. The pole was cut in half and power was knocked out to about 224 customers.
Officials closed Route 119 from Route 9 to Walter Street as a result. The roadway reopened around 6 a.m. after being closed for almost seven hours, just in time for the morning rush hour. However, Thruway officials say the exit ramp from I-87 onto Route 119 past the Tarrytown tolls will remained closed for a good part of Tuesday.
Con Edison had power fully restored by midday.
