A bus carrying special needs students crashed into a tree in New Castle Tuesday morning, leaving seven people hurt.
The accident happened at Crow Hill Road near Lake Road just after 10 a.m. Authorities say the injured passengers were taken to Northern Westchester Hospital. Two disabled adults were treated for deep gashes to their heads.
Police say the bus was transporting the wheelchair-bound adults and their assistants to their day program at the Richmond Community Day Program in Mount Kisco, when the driver drove off the windy road, lost control and swerved into the tree.
By the early afternoon, all seven passengers were released from the hospital and returned home.
