A scholarship fund has been set up in honor of a 23-year-old baseball star who was killed last year in Yonkers.

Michael Nolan, 23, was gunned down on Sept. 18 in a Burger King parking lot on Central Park Avenue.

He was an Oakland A's prospect.

Soon after Nolan was killed, his brother, Jimmy Nolan, wanted a way to turn his family tragedy into something good for the community. He teamed up with family friend Ray Ortiz and together they created the Michael Nolan Memorial Fund.

The scholarship fund will help students at Nolan's alma mater, Saunders High School, pay for college.

"My hope that is when you hear his name, you think of someone special," says Jimmy Nolan.

A fundraiser will be held Sunday at Rory Dolan's in Yonkers. It is open to the public, and all of the proceeds will be donated to the fund.
