A Bronx war veteran is being honored posthumously for his commitment to his country, as well as the borough.
U.S. Rep. Joe Crowley presented the family of Lou Durante with a certificate and an American flag that was flown over the Capitol.
Durante was not only remembered for his service in battle, but also as a volunteer at Lawrence Keane American Legion Post in Pelham Bay.
His loved ones say the recognition would have meant the world to him if he were still here.
