Bronx students protest Ferguson decision
Bronx middle school students are taking a stand against a grand jury decision not to indict a Missouri police officer in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown.
The Cornerstone Academy for Social Action protested peacefully on Steenwick Avenue in Eastchester, just one day after Officer Darren Wilson learned he will walk free.
Principal Jamal Bowen says that being a school for social action means they must have a voice and bring a voice to people in the community. Students say that although they are disappointed and even angry, they feel it is important to demonstrate their opposition in a positive way that reflects their generation and its fight for an equal and fair justice system.
Many other residents in the borough expressed sadness for Brown's family, who is now looking to press federal charges.
